America's Game - 2021
Lineprophet.com writer Derek J. Yoder take a look at the Army vs. Navy game.
America’s Game
The 122nd edition of Army-Navy will take place at Metlife stadium for the first time in series history. Army (8-3) comes into the game riding a four-game winning streak, however, the most impressive stat to date has been the team’s ability to carry a top-20 scoring unit, as well as, top-20 defense. On the other side of the ball, Navy (3-8) carries a top-10 run offense, but their 20.4 ppg rank is 115th out of 130 eligible teams.
Spread / ATS / Total
Army, who opened as 7.5-point favorites over Navy, still sits at that key number, and barring something crazy, I don’t see that number moving before kick. The Black Knights come into the game 8-3 ATS in their last 11 non-conference games and 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 neutral site games. The Midshipmen are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. With the total incredibly low at 33.5, the under is 6-2 in Black Knights last 8 games overall. The under is 5-2 in Midshipmen last 7 games overall. The Black Knights are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 meetings. The under is 17-4 in the last 21 meetings. Weather will be a key factor as there’s a 60% chance of rain with winds between 18- 24mph and gusts as high as 37mph.
The Verdict
Although Navy owns the overall record of this historic rivalry (61-53-7) they will need to empty out their entire bag of tricks if they want to beat Army. I think the Black Knights will be too much for the Midshipmen in this so I’ll lay the points, and roll with Army.
