The Josh Allen Effect
Josh Allen is one of the elite quarterbacks in the league today. So far this season, he has thrown for 3,071 yards, 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, while completing just a shade under 67 percent of his passes. Allen has playmakers to get the ball to, he is willing to run when that is in the best interest of his team, and he has arguably the best arm talent of any quarterback not named Patrick Mahomes.

Do You Want to Doubt Bill Belichick?

The only reason that I am even slightly hesitant about backing Buffalo tonight is that it has historically been a bad idea to count out Bill Belichick. After a down year, many pundits were doubting Belichick, claiming he wasn’t anything special and that Tom Brady made him. Belichick has responded by rebuilding his team on the fly, molding the offense around a rookie quarterback in Mac Jones, and guiding his Patriots team to the top of the AFC. Belichick has beaten the odds before, and that is the only reason I have any hesitation about backing the Bills.

Mistakes

Josh Allen has thrown two interceptions in each of his last two games. However, last week he also threw for four touchdowns. Allen is a talented and experienced quarterback, and I trust that he will clean up the mistakes and play a better game tonight. However, I can’t say the same for the other side of this matchup. While Mac Jones is incredibly poised and you can be certain that Belichick will have him coached up for this matchup, he is still a rookie, and I think that Buffalo will force him into at least one mistake that will turn the game in favor of the Bills.

The Verdict
Despite the brilliance of Bill Belichick and the uncanny poise exhibited by rookie Mac Jones, I am going to trust the Bills in this spot. Bilichick will keep the game from getting too out of hand, but I trust the Allen-Stefon Diggs connection to come through when it matters most and win the game for the Bills.
