Sam Culmer - Best Bets 12/02/2021
Take a look at what LineProphet.com writer Sam Culmer has as his 2 favorite plays tonight.
1) Saints +6.5 (-111)
We begin Week 13 in the NFL with the Cowboys (7-4) visiting the Saints (5-6) for Thursday Night Football in the Caesar’s Superdome. The Saints come into this game off of a 31-6 Thanksgiving blowout loss to the Buffalo Bills whereas the Cowboys are looking to bounce back from an overtime loss vs the Las Vegas Raiders.
Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy will not be on the sidelines tonight after testing positive for Covid-19, therefore, Defensive Coordinator Dan Quinn will take over the head coach responsibilities. Some have said that McCarthy out is a positive but the fact the Cowboys are on the road and that is a ‘short week’ will give the Cowboys issues. The Cowboys are expected to have a boost on offense as WR CeeDee Lamb was a full participant in practice and WR Amari Cooper has been activated. For the Saints, star RB Alvin Kamara has been ruled out for this game but the biggest lineup change in this game for me is QB Taysom Hill has been named the starter for the Saints.
The Saints are in the midst of their longest losing streak since 2015 and are 0-4 SU and 1-3 ATS since QB Trevor Siemian took over for the injured Jameis Winston. This is essentially a must win game for the Saints if they want to keep hopes of a playoff berth and the fact Head Coach Sean Payton has turned to Taysom Hill, gives me the confidence the Saints will keep this game close, if not win outright as +225 underdogs. This New Orleans defence will show up tonight and I expect them to force a turnover as Dallas’ offense has turned the ball over 2+ times in 5 of their last 7 games. The Saints are 8-2-1 ATS L11 as a home underdog and I am putting my money on the Saints to cover the 6.5 point spread.

2) Colorado Avalanche to Win in Regulation (-106)
The second best bet of the day comes in the NHL where the Colorado Avalanche (11-7-1) visit the struggling Montreal Canadiens (6-16-2). Colorado comes in here off of an embarrassing 8-3 loss vs the Toronto Maple Leafs last night and are looking to bounce back tonight in Montreal.
There is an uncertainty who will start in net for the Avalanche but Justus Annunen is expected who was recently called up from the AHL fresh off of winning the AHL Goalie of the Month award for November. This is a good spot for the young goaltender as the Canadiens are 3-7 L10, their powerplay is
ranked 30th in the NHL (12.5%) and their penalty kill is ranked 31st (68.1%). As well, the Avalanche are 6-0 SU L6 playing on zero days rest so at a (-106) price, I am backing the Avalanche to bounce back and win in regulation tonight.
