The Pick: Tennessee Titans +3.5 (-128) (Playable at +3)

Spread / ATS / Division History / Total
We are in for a great Thursday Night Football game as the red hot 49ers visit the struggling Titans in Nashville, Tennessee. The 49ers are 3-1 SU/3-1 ATS in their last 4, meanwhile the Titans are 1-3 SU/1-3 ATS in their last 4. The Titans will need to clean up the turnovers having now committed 13 turnovers in their last 4 games. The 49ers are coming off a game vs the Falcons in which their defense stopped the Falcons offense on 13 separate plays in the red zone, equalling a record dating back to the 1990’s. However, tonight I will be fading the primetime favourite and taking the home dog with the points.

The Titans will be missing the left side of their offensive line (Taylor Lewan and Rodger Saffold) but are expected to welcome back star WR A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, who has no injury designation. Even if Julio Jones’ hamstring is not 100%, his presence on the field with the return of A.J. Brown will open up the field for QB Ryan Tannehill against this vulnerable 49ers pass defense that ranks 21st in pass defense DVOA (defensive-adjusted variable over average). In addition, Brown has averaged just under 17.5 yards/catch in his first couple of seasons and this offense is in desperate need for a big-play receiver against a vulnerable 49ers secondary. The 49ers are a team that likes to run the ball down your throat from and no matter plays for them at RB they just find a way, with the likes of WR Deebo Samuel being effective in the run game. However, I believe the Titans have an underrated defense, specifically run defense, that ranks 2nd in the NFL is rushing yards allowed (86.9 YPG). Though I expect the 49ers to have some success in in the run game, I am confident the Titans D will be able to limit their production. The 49ers have played the Falcons (22nd ranked rush D), Seahawks (21st ranked rush D), and the Vikings (27th ranked rush D) in their last 3 outright wins.

I understand that the Niners are playing great team football recently and that the Titans have had problems in their last 4 games but I am trusting that the Titans D will be able to limit the 49ers, and with the more than likely return of A.J. Brown/Julio Jones, this Titans offense will wake up and limit the turnovers. If the 49ers do win I struggle to see them win by more than a field goal, so I am taking the Titans +3.5 and expect them to cause an upset on Thursday Night Football. TEN 23 - 20 SF
